Q: What are your physics/science interests?
I’m interested in experimental particle physics, especially the instrumentation subfield. I try to keep a very open mind about all topics of physics though, and I’m very interested in learning about other topics. I am also electrical engineering major concentrating in RF and applied electromagnetism.
Q: What are your other interests?
I’m teaching myself to play guitar, and I go to a lot of metal and punk shows. I like to run and hike and I’m trying to get into rock climbing.
Q: What would you like to do after college?
I’m planning to go to grad school to pursue a research career! I am also hoping to spend the summer before grad school doing some amount of backpacking, which I haven’t had the chance to do in a while.
Q: Tell us one strange but interesting fact about yourself?
In high school my friends and I took a class on how to run while juggling by the world record holder in the juggling mile.
Q: What first sparked your interest in Physics?
My cousin is an astrophysicist and did his studies when I was younger, so I grew up hearing about what he was doing in school and eventually on postdocs. When the Higgs Boson was discovered, I started hearing about particle physics a lot and was inspired to learn more.
Q: If you could have any pet, what would it be?
I am more of a cat person than a dog person. If we ignore space, money, climate, and legal issues I think red pandas are adorable and would be a cool pet!
Q: If you had a free month and unlimited funds, how would you spend your time?
Buy a nice camera and travel somewhere new to try as much of the local food as possible!
Q: If you could get a grant to study anything, what would it be?
Assuming the funding exists, I’d like to contribute to the design of a muon accelerator. Otherwise, I’d like to explore neutrino physics, either absolute mass measurements or improving the sensitivity of 0νββ experiments.
