Q: What are your physics/science interests?
I’m really interested in astrophysics, specifically the evolution of stars. In broader science, I’m interested in cryptography and data analysis.
Q: What are your other interests?
Outside of science, I love hiking with my dog, baking, and painting.
Q: What would you like to do after college?
After college, I want to help design satellites or rovers for an organization like NASA and play in a weekend rec soccer league. Then, I would like to teach high school physics until I retire.
Q: Tell us one strange but interesting fact about yourself?
One of my summer jobs was working in a warehouse so I’m forklift certified!
Q: What first sparked your interest in Physics?
When I was little, my family went to Alabama for a family friend’s wedding, but all I remember was visiting the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville and wanting to become an astronaut.
Q: If you could have any pet, what would it be?
If I could have any pet, it would be funny to have a well-trained (and rabies-free) raccoon because they’re very smart and they have opposable thumbs, so they could learn how to do a lot.
Q: If you had a free month and unlimited funds, how would you spend your time?
With a free month and unlimited funds, I would do a road trip across the country and explore as many national parks as I could. The ones I really want to see right now are Yosemite, Glacier, Acadia, and the Smokies.
Q: If you could get a grant to study anything, what would it be?
If I got a grant to study anything, I would study ways to maximize the efficiency of renewable energy plants, and engines in general, because there is a long way to go and this research could make a big impact in the fight against climate change.
