Q: What are your physics/science interests?
I’m interested in experimental particle physics and science communication and outreach.
Q: What are your other interests?
I’m double-majoring in German, I am in a band, I love to sew, and I do comics for my school newspaper.
Q: What would you like to do after college?
Ultimately, I want to go to graduate school to continue conducting research in experimental particle physics and eventually lead a lab. Beforehand, I might take a few years off to work abroad or as an accelerator operator.
Q: Tell us one strange but interested fact about yourself?
I’m way better at musical instrumentation while singing or playing wind instruments. For some reason, it’s a lot harder on string instruments!
Q: What first sparked your interest in Physics?
Growing up, I wanted to be a lot of things, from marine biologist to lawyer to materials scientist. I sort of wanted to learn about everything and do everything. Physics is about as close as you can get to that, in a job!
Q: If you could have any pet, what would it be?
I’d really love to have a bonded pair of cats.
Q: If you had a free month and unlimited funds, how would you spend your time?
I’d travel the world, go to a bunch of concerts, and eat a lot of good food.
Q: If you could get a grant to study anything, what would it be?
I’d like to study different communities’ relationships science. My hometown is very connected to the local marine biology research center. I grew up learning about the marine ecosystem from their volunteers, and I credit that aquarium with my enduring love of scientific discovery. However, different research facilities have different relationships with local communities and create different relationships with science. I’d love to probe that, especially with nuclear and particle research sites.
