Apply

The 2022 summer REU class is now full. Information for applying for summer 2023 will be available before the end of December 2022.

The online application for the 2022 UW Physics REU Summer Program is presented as a Google Form. Therefore, you must have a Google account to fill out your REU application. If you do not have a Google account, you can create one (or link an existing non-Google email account to a new Google account) here. When you are ready to apply, please review the application instructions below and then click the link at the bottom of this page to be directed to the application form.

Please read the information below so that you can become familiar with the application process.

Before you begin the application process, please have the following items and information ready as you will be asked to attach the file or enter the information before you can complete your application.

      • A cover letter explaining your interest in our program (file to be attached, any format).

      • An unofficial transcript (file to be attached). If you attended more than one college, it is advisable to have an unofficial transcript from each. (Note: If you are selected to participate in our program, at that time you will be required to provide an official transcript mailed by your college registrar.)

      • Your GPA for science/math/computer science courses.

      • Your GPA for all courses.

      • The names and email addresses of two professors who can provide letters of recommendation (you may provide more than two if you wish). The REU administrative staff will send an email request to your references, asking them to upload a letter of recommendation. Please let your references know in advance that the email will come from "uwint@uw.edu", so that they do not think it is spam.

When you click on the "Take me to application" link, you will be directed to a Google Form and the process will be as follows:

      • Review the Physics REU program details and University of Washington Privacy Notice.

      • Fill-in all fields marked with a red asterisk*.

      • Upload your cover letter and unofficial transcript(s) to the Google Form.

      • Click "Submit" at the bottom of the Google Form to complete your application.

      • On the application confirmation page, you will be presented with a link to an optional three-question demographic survey. This information will be used to evaluate our program's outreach efforts. All demographic survey answers will remain anonymous. Participation in the demographic survey is not required to complete your REU application.

      • After you have completed the Google Form, we will reach out to your listed references to request letters of recommendation.

      • Once all required application materials are received, your application will be reviewed.

Applications (including references) received before February 28, 2022 11:59PM Eastern Standard Time will receive full consideration.
