Q: What are your physics/science interests?
I am interested in most of physics, but particularly in astrophysics, particle physics and quantum mechanics.
Q: What are your other interests?
In addition to physics, I'm also an avid birdwatcher and general enthusiast of all things bird. Additionally, I have been known to wear the hats of a poet, a reader of many types of literature, a dancer, and a board-gamer.
Q: What would you like to do after college?
I'm hoping to go to grad school and then do research in industry or at a national lab.
Q: Tell us one strange but interesting fact about yourself.
I have a few sciencey stuffed animals, the most notable being a stuffed pi named Tausend (because he is my second pi plushie, the first one got lost), a stuffed gluon called "the gluon" and a stuffed Saturn named Cassini (after the spacecraft).
Q: What first sparked your interest in Physics?
In middle school during my general "earth sciences" class we had a lecture on very basic particle physics one day. Upon learning about the tiny pieces of our world, I was incredibly intrigued. My curiosity led to me doing independent reading on the subject, and one thing led to another, and now I'm here.
Q: If you could have any pet, what would it be?
Probably a parrot, although they would be a lot of work.
Q: If you had a free month and unlimited funds, how would you spend your time?
Birdwatching and traveling around the U.S/rest of the world. Going places to see birds is expensive, and so my own adventures have been rather limited in that regard. If I had the money and the time, I have a lot of places and birds I would love to go see.
Q: If you could get a grant to study anything what would it be?
Oooh, a difficult question. I have many answers, but one is investigating the origins of the mysterious high energy cosmic rays that reach earth from who knows what.
