Anatomy & Physiology
Teaching and Learning Community
We are a new teaching and learning community built around our common interests in how students learn the challenging concepts and competencies in Anatomy, Physiology, or Anatomy & Physiology classes. We are a community of students and instructors from diverse institutions from across the country/continent/globe.
We will meet once a month to share, discuss and learn from each other. Our goal is to build community and provide a forum for valuable discussion for other faculty.
We will meet the first Tuesday of every month at 2 pm ET on Zoom. We would invite any and all folks who teach Anatomy, Physiology, or Anatomy & Physiology from anywhere there is internet.
In our discussions we will explore how students learn the challenging concepts and competencies in Anatomy, Physiology, or Anatomy & Physiology classes. For each challenging topic, we will use the following questions to guide our discussions.
What struggles, misconceptions, or alternative ideas do students have about this challenging topic?
How can we assess how students reason about this topic or if they have misconceptions or alternative ideas?
What prior knowledge and reasoning resources do students have to help them learn this challenging topic?
What teaching strategies or resources can we use to support students’ learning of this topic?
How do we bring diversity, equity, inclusion and justice to this topic?
