During the early stages of the pandemic, a lot of people were so excited to be working remotely. But, during our Welcome Social on September 15th, 2022 for the Fall ‘22 cohort, you could feel from the joy in the room how good a return to in-person classes and events felt. In an unexpected turn, around 100 people from the Biostatistics and Data Science Department came out to socialize and have a good time! Students who have been with UTH for a few years got to meet and hang out with the new students (and in some cases see their own classmates after a few semesters of being remote) and new students got to meet their new class and get some tips and tricks for graduate life from their seniors.
The event included great food from Hu’s Cooking and Domino’s Pizza and amazing bubble tea from Twinkle. Students also had a chance to show their competitive side in fun games of Jenga and enjoy some music! It was also great to see our faculty and staff come to spend time together and with their students.
Thank you so much to everyone who registered, showed interest and came to our first event of the year! We hope to have more fun events coming up as we settle back into in-person learning and hope that you can make every one as successful as this! Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram and Facebook @uthealth_bads to stay up-to-date on our department news!
Sincerely,
BSA
