SangHyun Lee

SangHyun was born and raised in ChangWon, South Korea. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After the graduation, she moved to San Diego, CA to pursue a master’s degree in Science under the supervision of Professor Valerie A. Schmidt at the University of California at San Diego. During the program, she focused on developing an alpha-vinylation strategy via Pd-catalyzed decarbonylative cross-coupling and a radical-mediated decarboxylative cross-coupling. She then decided to move to Austin, TX to begin her Ph.D studies and joined the Hull Group in Fall 2018. Her research interests include developing new transition-metal-catalyzed reactions and their mechanistic studies. Outside of the lab, she enjoys listening to EDM, finding a good restaurant to eat and going to Solidcore for workout!
