About Me

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the University of Texas at Austin. My research examines the politics of gender and human rights, with a particular focus on how international institutions and transnational civil society shape domestic political change. My dissertation, The Global Politics of Gender Equality: CEDAW and the Diffusion of International Norms, examines these questions through research on the UN human rights system, NGOs, and gender equality reforms.

Originally from Mesa, Arizona, I received my M.A. in International Relations from the University of Chicago and my B.A. in Political Science from Brigham Young University.

Research Interests: Gender and politics; women in politics; international institutions; human rights; transnational actors and networks; Sub-Saharan Africa; experimental methods.
