The previous Project Development dashboard, based on Masterworks data, was compromised in data accuracy and transparency. Information such as number of projects, total contracts and change orders amounts were unreliable and not user-friendly.
In July 2024, key business questions were identified which helped define data needs: project delivery timelines, performance tracking, and transparency. Scripts were written to leverage Google Big Query and Masterworks/ePM data with a daily automated schedule. This effort culminated in the development of two Looker Studio Dashboards: UDOT Commission Delivery and UDOT Program and Commission Delivery dashboards.
The two dashboards have become essential tools for demonstrating progress to UDOT leadership and the Utah Transportation Commission in delivering projects on time and within budget. This accessible and accurate infomation resource enhance internal and external communication of market trends, supports discussions about recurring statewide challenges, and enables tracking of individual project managers’ performance and progress. More importantly, the dashboards promote greater data accuracy and transparency, helping build public trust and accountability in our program delivery.
