Cage the Elephant has long held a presence as one of the most important bands in indie rock -- songs like "Come a Little Closer" and "Cigarette Daydreams have soundtracked the lives of many people. After the release of their newest album, Neon Pill, the band embarked on tour, with their first stop being Salt Lake City.
The set opened up with Willow Avalon, Bakar and Young the Giant, which fans adored. Cage the Elephant took the stage quickly after the two sets, welcomed with screaming fans. Their opening song, "Broken Boy", was accompanied by flames and Matthew Schulz's electric stage presence.
Their set was packed with songs from every Cage the Elephant era, including new songs and classics. Lasers and flames were present throughtout the entirety of the show, taking it up another level and engaging fans.
The crowd danced and sang every song, excited to see their favorite band in their prime. They closed out their set with a run of their most popular songs as an encore, which riled up the crowd as they raised their hands and phone lights in the air, showing their love for the band.
Cage the Elephant kicked off their Neon Pill tour with a bang in Salt Lake, successfully entering themselves as one of the best shows of the year. The band's stage presence and talent is unmatched and they continue to get better and better throughout their run. They continue to tour until the end of September of this year -- if you can catch them on this tour, be sure to, as they're blowing it out of the water.
