“This is for everybody going through tough times…believe me, been there, done that…but, every day above ground is a great day, remember that!” - Mister Worldwide
September 25, Pitbull and T-Pain brought the party to Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater and marked a moment in history.
“Who came to party? We came to party!”
Presented by Live Nation, the Party After Dark Tour was classy in every way. Multiple costume changes, audience interactions and other-worldly, staged moments were just a few things that made the concert memorable.
When Gen Z gets together for a concert, you know things are about to get interesting. In this case, there were too many bald caps to count. Pitbull is iconically meme-able, but we need to give the man some credit when he brings the party effortlessly— Even when he’s sick.
He mentioned halfway through his set, that he had eaten something causing him stomach issues. This caused his energy to be lower than usual, but it was still high in the eyes of an audience member. He, along with the rest of us, partied hard.
Timber? I hardly know her.
“Ladies and gentlemen, my name is goddamn T-Pain”
As the opener for Mister Worldwide, T-Pain had the crowd on our tiptoes. Whatever spell he cast had us moving and barking in every instance. Everyone’s hands were up…and they stayed there.
Watching him up on stage, he sure ran things differently than expected from other openers. So, I guess you could say, ‘he’s not like the other girls.’ The night was full of randomness. He would even stop sporadically throughout his set simply to make fun of Pitbull.
“Your pants gotta be the right amount of tightness so you can bust your knees.”
There were other moments where he’d emphasize the need to be ‘classy’ breaking out bars to Mozart. In these performances, the moves he’d bust out were entirely captivating. He would combine techniques of ballet and hip-hop creating the T-Pain slide– it’s not an actual thing but he was making history nonetheless.
As he closed his set for the night, T-Pain ended us off right with all the bangers we know and love. “I’m Sprung,” “All I Do Is Win,” “Bartender” and many others got us going all night. It was full of nostalgia and I was ready to keep the party going.
What we know about Pitbull, is he’s all party, all the time. The roof was on fire. There might have been enough sweat produced to put it out, but we were not willing.
The big dog, AKA Pitbull, AKA Mister Worldwide, kept the night young. I wish it were everlasting. With songs like “Hotel Room Service,” “Timber,” “Time of Our Lives” and many others, it felt like I was back in the early 2000s. The flowing nostalgia and the aroma of sweaty dancers made this a night to remember.
I’m fully convinced the party produced tonight would not have been the same without the visual effects, especially Pitbull’s dancers. Each individual had such a strong personality, that my eyes were glued to them. It wasn’t only me either. The screens were fully focused on the moves…Ass in your face. All. Night.
As the concert came to a close, I was on my hands and knees for an encore. But unfortunately, all that begging did not pay off. Due to Pitbull’s condition, it was fair. Thoughts and prayers everybody. Thoughts and prayers.
Thank you to Live Nation for presenting this show and Pitbull for bringing the world to Utah.
