Hi I'm Jason!
Father of 2 children aged 22 and 19 (daughter is even named after a Star Trek character) and a granddaughter who was born in December 2023.
I've worked for 35 years with the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Initially as a Construction Technician and Inspector in the field, before moving into the area of asset management.
As a child, I saw the original series, but it was the Next Generation that reinvigorated my interest in the show again. That series, as well as Deep Space 9 and Voyager are probably my most preferred of the television shows and I like the First Contact and Nemesis movies. I have also very much enjoyed the novels that were written by Peter David for Star Trek, especially his New Frontier series. Admittedly, I was always a bigger fan of Star Wars. However, to me personally, I wasn't impressed with what was done to the franchise by Disney and this has had me showing a greater interest in Star Trek in more recent times.
Besides the original Star Wars movies and prequels, I love the Alien movies, enjoy many of the movies with the superhero theme and would very much like to see more movies in the fantasy genre. I also enjoy a lot of television shows, where I think some of the older ones are still far better than what is currently on – Airwolf, Blakes 7, Doctor Who, The Expanse, The Witcher, The X-Files and many, many, many more. I also watch a lot of anime shows and again, many of those tend to have a sci-fi or fantasy theme.
I decided that 2022 was my last year of football (soccer), having played the sport and even been a referee for a time, over the 44 years. I still enjoy the game, but it is time to take things a little bit easier. As such, I have been doing archery for the last 8 years after my son initially wanted to give it a go and it is something that I have been continuing with. During this time, I have won or placed in numerous invitationals, won several state titles and even a national title.
Ever since I was in high school, I have played either tabletop or computer games. Even now, all these years later, I am still playing D&D. There have also been many other roleplaying games that I have enjoyed, such as Champions, Vampire and even Star Trek and Star Wars. I have also been building a collection of board games. I enjoy listening to music and also play the bass guitar, although I haven't really played much for a while now.
When time allows, I also like to read and have a sizeable collection of novels, which are predominately sci-fi and fantasy, with a little bit of horror. In addition to this, I also have a massive comic book collection.
