The main objective of the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Research Team (ERSIC) is to conduct cutting-edge scientific research and technological development activities that span both academic and industrial domains. ERSIC aims to foster interdisciplinary research projects at the intersection of chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, and physics.
ERSIC's research activities focus on two primary areas: biomass valorization and the development of functional materials with applications in energy, the environment, and health.
Our interdisciplinary projects address major societal challenges. The success of our mission is supported by the expertise and skills of our permanent researchers, particularly in the following areas:
1. Reaction engineering and catalysis;
2. Development, characterization, and applications of functional materials;
3. Molecular modeling of organic and inorganic systems;
4. Biomass valorization for materials, energy, environmental, and biomedical applications;
5. Innovation and intellectual property in chemistry.
ERSIC's role extends to: (1) contributing to training and the acquisition, mastery, and development of new scientific and technological knowledge; (2) conducting studies and research, and ensuring the promotion and dissemination of our research findings; (3) addressing socio-economic needs related to energy, functional materials, the environment, and health; (4) undertaking research projects and securing new funding to support our research goals; and (5) developing and leading our proposed lines of research.
