TAMBAL Day 1 officially opened with a celebration of academic excellence and civic commitment as the University of St. La Salle–Bacolod College of Medicine launched the first wave of competitions under its socio-civic organization, TAMBAL, which advocates for “Curing Apathy for a Healthier Society.
BACOLOD CITY—The opening day gathered participants from various colleges and institutions offering allied health and medical programs, bringing together students united by their passion for service, learning, and community health. Competitors showcased their knowledge and skills across four major events: the Quiz Bee, Essay Writing competition, Research Summit, and Photography Contest. Each category challenged participants to think critically, communicate effectively, and highlight the values essential to future health professionals.
This year’s theme, “HANDUM: Hope that Moves, Change that Matters,” served as the guiding thrust for the day’s activities, emphasizing the transformative role of young health advocates in shaping responsive and compassionate healthcare for communities. Organizers expressed that the event aims not only to promote academic engagement but also to inspire students to become catalysts of meaningful change.
TAMBAL Day 1 marks the beginning of a multi-day celebration centered on excellence, service, and collective commitment to a healthier society — values deeply embedded in the Lasallian mission and spirit.
