Did you know that Canlaon was actually a female deity, and not a man nor a fusion of two lovers? The worst of men are celebrated, but the best of women are forgotten. From twisted myths downplaying women to uncredited works, the contributions by the women of STEM often go unrecognized.
The Bibliotikal provided a platform for the voices of these women to be heard, and their innovations be discovered through a free public lecture entitled, “ViScience2025: Sugilanon Sang Mga Pamatan-on ni Canlaon” this 22nd of March 2025 at Beanucot/Nostalgia Heritage Hall, Seabreeze Hotel.
Guardian of knowledge and keynote speaker — Ms. Mercedes G. Planta shares her discoveries on medicinal plants and hosted a book-signing event for her published work, showcasing Negros women’s power and brilliance in the field of STEAM.
The Bibliotikal fora also advocates for the contribution to the engagement of ethnomedicine heritage and promotion of traditional medicine knowledge as it also seeks to catalyze positive change in total policy, decision-making processes, and natural resources management.
Afternoon speakers, all women researchers and educators, demonstrated their expertise in their respective fields, proving how women can excel seamlessly in STEAM.
The worst of men were celebrated, the best of women shall be forgotten no more. May the worst men rot, and may the best women write.
