A Library's Secret Soundscape
A Library's Secret Soundscape
ImmerSit is an interactive reading stool designed to transform solitary reading in libraries into an immersive, multi-sensory reading experience. Blending furniture and subtle technology, it creates a cocoon for concentration: scan a book, slip on headphones, and let ambient sound and narration pull you deeper into the book you read.
We want to improve the quality of the USJ library through the careful combination of natural elegance and smart technology. Libraries offer quiet spaces for focus, but their openness can leave you feeling exposed or distracted.
University students and patrons can learn the book's description, and later listen to the ambient soundscape of nature. Students can scan their ID card to receive book recommendations relevant to their studies. The integration of the ImmerSit interactive stool will immerse the library users in their reading experience.
We want to provide an alternative way for users to listen instead of reading the description of the book.
Helps narrow down the book search with recommendations.
Provides sound ambience for a better reading experience.
We envisioned the stool design in its purest form— a simple wooden stool blending minimalist beauty with ergonomic comfort. Inspired by Japanese style, its quiet elegance proves functionality and grace can coexist effortlessly.
Once we discovered the overall shape and form of our stool, we started working on drawing technical specifications. We set up the stool dimensions before visualizing the product on 3D software.
Later, we started mapping out schematics for the electronics for the interactive functions to work. We integrated a Raspberry PI microcontroller with a headphone and an LED strip to provide both discreet audio and visual experiences to users.
We utilize sensors to determine interactions by the user and to provide audio feedback. The entire operation is powered by the Raspberry PI charger.

Our logo is a clever yet minimalist reflection of the stool's silhouette. It is designed to work in monochromatic way, so it always looks sharp, whether it's on a light or dark background. The wordmark is a clean San-serif font, keeping things neat and easy to read.
