How do artists transform reality?
How can puppets communicate a story or a message? (maybe one that you cannot?)
How do artists and designers bring puppets or inanimate objects to life?
What role does storytelling play in cultures and societies?
How do life experiences influence the way you relate to stories and art?
You will write a personal “pandemic story” and design and create a puppet (or puppets) as well as a set/scenery to tell your story in the form of a puppet show. You will videotape your puppet show to turn in.
THE MAGIC OF PUPPETRY:
Puppets can say and do things that we can’t. Puppets can magically transform reality into a fantasy world. Puppets can anthropomorphize or personify an inanimate object. Puppets can tell your story. Puppets can be serious, funny, goofy, crazy, rude, obnoxious, sweet, or whatever you make them to be.
