This is an exciting year for you and we want to keep you apprised of important information.

Important Dates

April 12th - After Glow invitations distributed in English.

April 26th - Last day to purchase Senior Luncheon tickets ($10 in HS Office)

April 26th - After Glow RSVP due.

May 3rd - Caps & Gowns picked up

May 8th/9th - Chromebook Check in

May 8th - Honors Program @ 7:00 pm (Evan Hawk Auditorium)

May 10th -Seniors Last Day

May 10th - Graduation Practice & Inspiration Walk

May 19th - Graduation @ 2:00 PM (Jantz Stadium)

May 19th - AfterGlow @9 pm - 4 am (Winfield Middle School)

Important Forms

- Attached is the form needed to be completed and returned to WHS. Without the form completed and returned by both parent and photographer the student's senior picture used for the yearbook can not be included in the senior Courier Traveler Graduation Issue, Senior Award Night or Afterglow. The form must have the photographer's signature whether the photographer was a parent, friend or professional due to copyright laws.

Each graduating student will be given the opportunity to buy the Chromebook assigned to them. Cost is $60The purchase will include the Chromebook, student case, and charger. Please notate your intent to purchase your Chromebook by Tuesday, May 1st using this form. It is recommended that you prepay to make the end of year checkout go faster. See Debra Rising in the WHS Office. The Chromebook will not be your property until the Technology Department has reset it at the end of the semester. On Chromebook Check-in day (5/8, 5/9), you must pay for the Chromebook in full.

Event Details

Senior Week

When is it? April 29th - May 4th

What is it? A week of dress up days and activities for Seniors!

Monday: Dress up as your kindergarten self Hamburger Cookout @ Broadway Sports Complex @ 6 pm

Tuesday: Dress as your future career Senior Skate Night @ 7 pm

Wednesday: Formal wear for Senior Banquet at Shindigs @ 1:30 pm Swimming at Southwestern Pool @ 8 - 9:30 pm

Thursday: Future College T Shirt Day College prep games at Island Park (Big Pavilion) @ 7 pm

Friday: Vine Day Movie at fairgrounds, barn 4 @ 7 pm

Pick up Cap/Gown/Tassels/Honor Cords

When is it? Friday, May 3rd during 4th Block

Additional Information: All financial obligations (school fees, library books/fees, lunch, etc) must have been met or arrangements made for items to be released. Any questions about cords should be directed to Department chair for each subject.

Gown Care: Hang up your gown the day you receive it. You may need to steam it to get the wrinkles out before you wear it.

Chromebook Check In

When is it? May 8th & 9th

What is it? Seniors that have not purchased their chromebook will turn check them in. Students can purchase their chromebook for $60. A google form has been emailed to Seniors with information about purchasing their chrome book. You can access the form here

Senior Honors Program

When is it? May 8th at 7 pm in the Evan Hawk Auditorium

What is it? Acknowledges students who have received awards (academic, athletic, community), honors (including honors cords) and announces several local scholarship winners. Reception following the program in the Commons.

How do I dress?: Seniors wear cap & gown, audience dresses casual

Who attends it?: All Seniors are welcome to attend

More information: Seniors need to be present by 6:30 pm in the Commons area with cap and gown on. Students will walk in with a partner of their choosing (or as directed by class sponsors) and sit on the stage.

Graduation Inspire Walk (last day for Seniors)

When is it? Friday, May 10th - meet at 8 am at the Aux Gym

What is it? Seniors walk through the elementary schools, middle school and high school to celebrate their achievement. Students will be bused to the Elementary schools and will receive a form to complete indicating which school they want to walk through.

How do I dress for it? Cap & gown/ comfortable clothing underneath

Graduation Practice (last day for Seniors)

When is it? Friday, May 10th immediately after Inspire Walk

What is it? All graduates are required to attend. Students will practice walking in and out, going up to the stage, etc.

How do I dress for it? Casual

Who attends it? All graduating Seniors

Additional Information: Seniors will be dismissed after practice is completed (sometime between 12:30 and 1:00 pm) Lunch will not be served. Students can eat at school after dismissal if they choose.

Graduation

When is it? Sunday, May 19th at 2 pm at Jantz Stadium (Southwestern College)

How do I dress for it? Cap & Gown with nice pants and shirt or dress. No spike heels because of track surface. No tennis shoes or flip flops (may be difficult to maneuver) please. Caps are not allowed to be decorated and should be worn parallel to the ground. Tassels are to hang to the right until students are directed to move them.

Additional Information: Graduates should be in position by 1:30 pm. Seniors will keep their cap/tassel, gown and stole. Seniors can pick up their graduation packet following commencement in the high school office. If obligations have not been met, the packets will be held until obligations are satisfied.

Graduation (Inclement Weather Plan)

In the event of inclement weather, commencement will be conducted in the WHS gymnasium and will be decided by 11:00 am an announced on local radio stations and by school messenger. If commencement is held in the gym, tickets will be required for admission. Each student will be given 10 admission tickets with their cap & gown packet on May 3rd. Students may also request up to 3 admission tickets to the auditorium for overflow seating. A live simulcast will be provided in the auditorium.

After Glow

When is it? May 19th from 9:00 pm - May 20th 4:00 am @ Winfield Middle School

What is it? A traditional all night party. All Winfield High School, graduating Class of 2019 are invited. Admission is free to attend. Afterglow is sponsored and planned by the Senior's parents. There will be music, food, games, skits, prizes and much more.

What to wear? Dress attire is casual.

Additional Information: Invitations are passed out April 12th during English class. RSVP MUST be returned by April 26th with to receive a t-shirt. Doors open at 9 PM. No one will be admitted after 10 PM. You must stay until the end to receive your prizes.If you leave, you will not be allowed to re-enter.If special consideration is needed, please contact LeAnn Tipps.
