Preschool 2023-24

Class overview:

Welcome to Pauline Central Preschool! This is such an exciting time, full of growth and wonder. I hope your child will love coming to school everyday as much as we will love having them here!

Our classroom uses play-based learning as much as possible with both teacher and student-lead learning strategies, while working on academics like Literacy and Math plus Social-Emotional skills. We focus on fine motor skills as well. Our artwork is a combination of process art and teacher led. That sometimes means their artwork will be messy and other times it will look more put together. Both are art and we are proud of our artwork! Technology is also worked in during the day in various ways. Preschool uses IPads and smartboards.

Our days are short but jam packed with learning and fun.  Please let us know if you will miss a day for whatever reason. We try to make sure the kids know we thought about them and missed them while they were gone. Also I don't usually send make up work home unless requested. We can do the work in class.

Check back often for important updates.  IMPORTANT DATES/NEWSLETTER/SNACKS are updated every week.

I love working with kids! I have two kids of my own who love to visit our prek when they get the chance.  I live in Topeka with my kids, husband, and a cat and a dog.

In the past, I have taught 6th grade Middle School Language Arts in Chase Middle School at USD 501, then 1st grade at Topeka Collegiate for a few years. This is my 3rd year at PC as a classroom teacher but I've been with the USD 437 district for over 8 years in some capacity or another.  I have a degree from Kansas State University, Bachelors in Elementary Education in 2005 and a Masters in Special Education, Prk-12 from Friends University in 2022.

Classroom Paraprofessional: Mel Applebee-Jaques

Our class is also has Mrs. Mel, working in our room. She brings her patience, many years of experience working with preschoolers, as well as her creative talent. She has worked in our district for a few years now. Some of her favorites are anything camo, her dogs, and working with kids. She is allergic to pine so please don't send in pinecones.
