Location Details

Ottawa High School's front door faces Ash street just south of 11th and Ash. Park in the lot in front of the main doors (near the flagpole) or around the corner to the south by the under-construction Performing Arts Center. Enter at the main doors. We will be open for check-in at 7:45. There will be coffee and breakfast snacks available at the start of the meeting.

We will begin at 8:15 with a brief opening by Jim Deane and a welcome to Ottawa High School by Principal Kelly Whittaker. We will then begin general sessions.

Late Arrivals

Enter at the front door and head straight forward down the hallway. You will pass the Library Media Center on your right, then a second cross hallway, then the Community Room, our main meeting room, will be on your right.

Event Description:

  • The AAPT Arkansas-Oklahoma-Kansas annual meeting is a one-day conference with an optional dinner reception on the preceding evening. The purpose of our meeting is to gather and share information about physics education, physics, physics education research (PER), science education research, and related topics.

  • Participant presentations are not required, but are encouraged. Opportunities for poster presentations and short talks are available during the conference for any/all participants at any level.

  • Registration is done on-line through the Eventbrite ticketing system. Please visit the link to register.

  • As of Noon on October 15, regular registration is closed. Please contact Jim Deane at (jim dot deane at gmail dot com) for information on registration up through the start of the Saturday event.

Book Swap

Have you Konmari'ed your bookshelf and want them to bring joy to a new reader? Bring them to AOK and put them on the swap table! Any books remaining at the end of the session that are not taken home will be donated to a local library.

  • 7:00 pm -- Ottawa High School Football -- Steve Grogan Stadium (just South of the high school. Small entry fee.

Saturday - Sunday :

  • Baldwin Kansas Maple Leaf Festival (~15 min North of Ottawa on Hwy 59)

  • The Old Depot Museum: A historic Santa Fe Railroad depot serving as our major Franklin County Historical Society museum. Located just north of the main street bridge at 135 W. Tecumseh Street, open 10am-4pm Saturday and 1pm-4pm Sunday.

  • OHS Theatre's production of A Play About A Dragon -- Saturday 7:00 PM and Sunday 2:00 PM, at the Ottawa Memorial Auditorium. Tickets are $8 at the door.

  • Plaza Cinema Movie Theater -- The Oldest Operating Cinema in The World, located downtown at 209 S. Main Street.
