A summary of this checklist is printed in your agenda with college & career planning 411 .

This is the year to narrow your college decision and focus in on your top 5 – 10 college selections.

  • Seriously research and consider your college options by doing the following:

o Meet with college representatives @ SE

o Attend college fairs

o Use Xello (Rapid Identity) to learn about specific colleges & their scholarships

o Use Xello to search online for colleges that meet your needs & have your ideal major(s)

o Talk to your parents and the college & career center coordinator about college costs

  • Sign up to take the PSAT in October. Many resources for academic and career planning are available to you through the College Board when you take this national standardized exam. Your score on this test will determine your National Merit Scholarship Competition Qualifications.

  • Register to take the ACT and/or SAT. Visit the CCC for information about the several prep workshops that are offered throughout the year.

  • Get ACT and SAT fee waiver assistance by visiting page 19 of the your student agenda or using the Test Prep link on the right.

  • Consider taking the ASVAB for a more detailed career match, sign up by the end of October.

o Complete each lesson & update your timeline

o Save 3 colleges that offer your saved majors

o Review & update your “Goals & Plans”

  • Review your high school transcript to find out your GPA, class rank, and class grades. Visit bit.ly/MyTranscript for more info on how.

  • Consider registering for college classes in WSU Tech’s affordable Jumpstart Block program for Senior year. Registration takes place in March. Visit the College & Career Center or bit.ly/CollegeBuff (case sensitive) for more information.

  • Apply for scholarships. Check the CCC News for scholarships and jobs to consider now.

  • Review the Program of Studies to help you plan to help you update your 4-year high school plan from freshman year.

  • Take advantage of the College & Career Center and the college & career planning pages in your student agenda. This is a tremendous resource to support you in your college and career planning!
