Behavior and Attendance

Choir members at Bradley Elementary are ambassadors for and representatives of the school. Therefore, we have high expectations of student participation, attendance and behavior. Rehearsal behavior must be excellent at all times. Because time is limited, we must make the most use of our time.

Rehearsal and performance attendance is expected and required of all choir members. Excused absences will be counted excused only when I receive an email from a parent/guardian. Please do your best to let me know in advance if you must be absent from a choir rehearsal and/or performance.

Choir Calendar

The Bradley Elementary Choir will have one after-school performance on April 30. On-time weekly rehearsals will occur every Monday and Thursday mornings from 7:30-8:00 a.m. in the music room. Joining the choir is a year-long commitment that should be taken seriously. If you are moving mid-year, you are still encouraged to participate.

September 8-- Choir begins (only Mondays until October 14)
October 14-- Choir begins on Mondays and Thursdays
December 5-- Tree Lighting Ceremony, 5:00-5:30 pm (TBD), Zias Park
December 19-- Holiday Sing-Along (during school hours, subject to change)
January 12-- Band and Choir resumes after Winter Break
February 23-- BOE performance at Bradley (TBD)
April 30-- Spring Choir and Band Concert, 6:00 p.m., Bradley Auditorium (note the time change is different from previous years)
May 5-- Band and Choir breakfast

Musical Selections

Please be advised that due to the voluntary nature of this group and the liturgical aspect of much choral music, some selections of a sacred nature, patriotic literature and songs relating to holiday celebrations will be studied. “Since choral music with a sacred text comprises such a substantial portion of the artistic repertoire representatives of the choral medium and the history of music, it should have an important place in music education. Its study and artistic performance have nothing to do with the First Amendment to the Constitution and the doctrine which advocates separation of Church and State.” (“The Choral Podium,” published by the American Choral Directors Association, Winter 1992).
