The CUR promotes investigations in all academic disciplines and cultivates a passion for independent discovery by equipping students for the challenges of the future in any career or educational situation. The Center supports high-quality research and creative activities that engages students through inquiry-based learning to advance the University of the Science’s educational mission.
Dec 5, 2019: Science Communication Workshop - Franklin Institute's Director of Science Content and Chief Bio-scientist Jayatri Das, Ph.D. spoke to over 60 USciences undergrads on the value of communicating their science and research effectively. The hour-long workshop - made possible by Dr. Roberto Ramos's IREG grant funded by the Charles Kaufman Foundation, included exercises on listening, reflecting (on one's audience and message), expressing, and story-telling - techniques that enhance the communication of one's research ideas.
Dec 3, 2019: The 2019 Fall CUR Research Speed-Meet: The very popular Research Speed-Dating Event had 16 USciences faculty participating, making possible over 70 meetings with students in one hour!
Summer of 2019: 11 USciences undergraduates received USURF funding to pursue undergraduate research. Go to the USURF page to learn more about these highly-talented undergraduate researchers and their passion for the work they do.
2019 USciences CUR Research Festival showcased nationally on Council of Undergraduate Research Website
In April 2019, a record number of USciences undergraduates participated in the annual USciences CUR Research Festival - a three-day event that featured an Elevator Talk Competition, an Image of Research Exhibit, USURF Recognition Lunch, Research Speed-Dating, Alumni Career Panel, Poster Sessions and a Student Research Symposium. The event was showcased at the National Council of Undergraduate Research website https://www.cur.org/resources/urw/upcoming/#usciences
