I am an assistant professor of accounting at the University of Southern California's Leventhal School of Accounting. I received a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of North Carolina and a B.S. in Economics from Brigham Young University. I conduct research which examines written communication of financial information through corporate filings and disclosures using linguistics-based research methodologies, as well as research on the intersection of accounting and emerging technologies more broadly. I have presented my research at many conferences in my field and have published in the Journal of Accounting and Economics, the Journal of Accounting Research, Management Science. and Contemporary Accounting Research. My work has been cited in Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, CFO Magazine, and in rules issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
