Signal Processing for Communication Understanding and Behavior Analysis Laboratory (SCUBA)

Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical Engineering, Viterbi School of Engineering

University of Southern California

Los Angeles, CA, United States

I am a PhD student in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Southern California where I perform research in the Signal Processing for Communication Understanding and Behavior Analysis Laboratory (SCUBA) under the advisement of Professor Panayiotis G. Georgiou.

This summer (2018) I worked as a Deep Learning Intern at Samsung Semiconductor in source separation of monaural speech.

I received the B.S. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU), and National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Taiwan, in 2008 and 2011, respectively.

After that I worked as an Advanced Engineer at Faraday Technology Corporation before joining the PhD program at USC.

My research interests include

  • Machine Learning
  • Behavioral Signal Processing
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Automatic Speech Recognition

Selected coursework at USC

  • Machine Learning from Signals: Foundations and Methods
  • Advanced Natural Language Processing
  • Affective Computing
  • Mathematical Pattern Recognition
  • Foundations of Artificial Intelligence
  • Analysis of Algorithms
