Larry Dulay Itliong was a Filipino American labor organizer who is now known as one of the “Fathers of the West Coast labor movement” and a champion for agricultural workers during the 1960s. Itliong was born in the Philippines in 1913 and immigrated to the United States in 1929. Not long after, he was joining in labor strikes, organizing labor unions, and building community among the many different groups of people working in agriculture. Despite monumental contributions the labor movement, Itliong and the broader Filipino community are largely left out of the narrative for the fight again st unfair labor practices, but this erasure is slowly being reversed.
