LO: To consider what to share online.
Alter these images so that they are safe to share online. Remember we don't want them to give away any private information.
On a new page, take a photo of yourself or you and a friend and then alter it in some way so as to keep your private information safe.

We have been learning about…
Pip loves sharing photos online. Pip has to remember to be Cybersmart when she shares photos so that she doesn’t share her private information.
We took some images and altered them so they could be shared online safely.
It’s important to look at photos carefully before we share them because …

LO: To consider what to share online.
It's important to be Cybersmart when we share anything online.
Last time we read about Pip's adventure in Christchurch.
She was being Cybersmart about what she shared online.
Pip has written about some other things she has been up to and wants you to let her know if they are safe to share online.
Choose one of the Pips posts that wasn't safe to share online and remake it so that Pip can continue to be a Cybersmart Kiwi. Use Explain Everything to do this.

Being Cybermart means ...
Pip sometimes struggles with being Cybersmart when she shares online.
We took one of Pip’s posts and redid it for her so that it was safe to share.
It’s important to think before we share online because …

16th October
LO: To consider what to share online.
People love to share thoughts, ideas and memories with other people.
Do we need to think about what we share?
Making Cybersmart Choices
Being cybersmart means sharing fun things without sharing private information about yourself, like your birth date, address, your full name, or your exact location and when you'll be there. And remember to always ask permission before sharing pictures of your friends!
How cybersmart was Pip?
Share your ideas in a group of three, then use your thumb-o-meter to show the class how cybersmart you think Pip was.
Use Explain Everything to create an image of one of your favourite memories.
Let's follow the instructions on slides 14-18.

LO: To create own characters. LO: To change size of characters.
Remember when we drew our monsters?
Let's draw a digital monster on Draw N Tell or Explain everything and then save it to your photo reel.
Now lets add our character to Octo Studio.
Bring your character to life by coding it to move in different directions.
In Scratch Jnr we had different blocks for different directions but in this we don't. Take a look at how we get the sprite to move in different directions.
When we change size, + positive numbers mean it gets bigger, - negative numbers means it gets smaller
What was our learning today?
Let's save our project as a video so we can share with our teacher.

LO: To use a sequence of vertical commands to create a desired outcome.
Time to uplevel our coding skills.
From Scratch Jnr to OctoStudio, let's take at the similarities and differences.
What are your thoughts?
Let's explore!
Add a character and make it move.
In this video I have made it move, jump, glow green, added sound and made the background change.

LO: To share my learning as a video.
Can I share my learning on Clips even if I haven't done it on an iPad?
Yes! Let's explore how.
First use the camera app to take your photos.
We can use our photos to make the content of our movie.
Next go to Clips to uplaod all your photos to Clips.
Here's where to find them.
What if my photos are not in the right order?
In Clips, hold down the photo you want to move on the timeline and it will pop out and then you can just drag it to where you want it.
Today we are going to be retelling the story, the hungry hungry caterpillar.
Let's watch.
In groups of 4 or 5, decide on who is going to do which part of the story.
First the caterpillar was small and it was very hungry.
It ate lots and lots of food.
Then it became very big and fat.
Finally it turned into a butterfly.
Draw all the pictures then take photos of all the people's mahi in your group.
Now head to clips and add the picture to a new clip.
Don't forget to add a title page.
What was our new learning today?
Save to your photos then share on Seesaw.

LO: To explain learning through video.
Last week we used Clips to make a simple video. Let's explore further what it can do.
We can record directly into clips.
We can use posters to make title pages.
Go to Clips.
Make an All About Me video using Posters
Let's share our thoughts.

LO: To change backgrounds when sprites bump into each other.
Let's take a look at this Scratch Jnr project.
What happens when the falling rocks hit the fish?
How might we do something like this?
How many sprites might we have?
What blocks will we need?
Create your own game.
Start your program with yellow-colored flag block.
Make your character move across the screen, left to right, using the blue-colored move block.
Use repeat a few times.
Use a yellow-colored start bump with a character block.
Use the red-colored goto block to switch the background.
Challenge: How can you take this idea to make a pacman style game?
What did we learn today? What was different to our coding compared to the other Scratch Jnr activities we have done?
Why is this useful to know?

LO: To cause characters to move once another character has acted.
Let's look at creating a chain reaction.
When one sprite touches another the second sprite then reacts.
In this example when the astronaut touches the rocket, the rocket takes off.
What are our new blocks?
Create a scene where an astronaut gets into a rocket and then the rocket takes off.
PG 1 - Make your character disappear when you click on the character. And make another character start moving upwards.
Challenge: Add a second page.
PG 2 - have the rocket land on a new planet.
What does the planet look like?
What might the astronaut say

What code would you use to get the person from the start to the castle?
Did you know we can use more than one line of code to make our sprites move?
How do you think scratch would move with this code?
What did we learn today? What was different to our coding compared to the other Scratch Jnr activities?
Why would we use two (or more) lines of code for sprites?

Why did the chicken cross the road?
Stop at 1.15: What could be on the other side?
Why do you think the chickens had never crossed the road before?
Why did the chickens want to cross the road?
Scratch Jnr Logo
Use Scratch Jnr to show the chickens what is on the other side of the road.
Skills: - Editing a sprite
- Creating a background
- Make sprite move
- Recording my voice
Here are some on the coding blocks we are going to be using:
Challenge: Create a car sprite to add to your coded image. Can you make the car move but not hit the chicken?
Using full screen let's imagine we are at a gallery where we can go round and look at all the artwork.
As we wander around, remember we can only touch the green flag.
