POPS Goes the Weasel - to celebrate UPO's 15th season

The short Buster Keaton silent comedy One Week will be shown with UPO playing along with a special orchestral score.

"It’s a short film about a young married couple who receives a DIY house kit in boxes with instructions for assembly. But someone re-numbers the boxes. The visual gags
are hilarious, truly genius comedy, and it's family friendly,” said UPO Conductor Stephen L. Larson.

The orchestra received a grant this year from the Community Foundation of East Central Illinois to purchase cordless music stand lights.

“We’re excited to use the lights for the first time at this concert when we play along with the Buster Keaton film.”

Themes from the musical Ragtime.

George Gershwin's 1924 classic Rhapsody in Blue with pianist Kavinder Patel, a junior in high school who won this year's Chambana International Concerto Competition.

And of course, a surprise at the end!

Audience members will each receive an Urbana Pops Orchestra "Plays Well With Others" cling that can be used inside a car window or externally on any surface.
