Can you describe an angle given a right triangle and/or using the unit circle?
Can you convert from degrees to radians and radians to degrees?
Do you understand the definition of a radian?
What is the relationship between the unit circle and radian measure?
What is the difference between 180 angle rotation and a negative 180 degree rotation?
Identify a unit circle and describe its relationship to real numbers.
Is the measure of an angle of rotation in standard position completely determined by the position of its terminal side.
Define the specific functions of the unit circle.
Memorize both the degrees and the radian values of the unit circle.
Use special triangle (30-60-90; 45-45-90) ratios to label a given point on the unit circle.
Evaluate trigonometric functions using the unit circle.
How do you find the reference angle and apply it?
Learn how to calculate points on the graph using a calculator.
Use the domain and period to evaluate sine and cosine functions.
The importance of the unit circle in mathematics should not be underestimated. The properties contained within the circle are necessary for an understanding of trigonometry. This allows for an understanding of various forms of oscillating patterns, which are very different from the previous functions we have studied.
