Learning Objective

Similarity, Ratios and Proportions

Goal

The student will demonstrate the ability to identify similar triangles and solve problems using ratios and proportions. Students will also demonstrate the ability to solve simple algebraic equations involving ratios and proportions.

The student will be able to:

1. Identify similar polygons.
2. Identify corresponding parts of similar polygons.
3. Apply proportions to problems using similar figures and scale drawings.
4. Prove triangles similar using AA, SAS, SSS Similarity Theorems.
5. State and apply the relationship between parallel lines and proportional segments in triangles.
6. Solve simple algebraic equations.
