Research in our laboratory is highly interdisciplinary (chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science). Our projects and activities revolve around the design of functional soft materials and fundamental interfacial phenomena, broadly focusing on characterizing the assembly of surface-active materials and chemically tailored nanoparticles at oil-water interfaces. The complex intermolecular interactions occurring at oil-water interfaces play a central role in a wide range of industrial and technological processes, including product formulation, design of delivery systems, oil-water separations, and environmental remediation. Therefore, our goal is to generate fundamental knowledge towards the design and development of functional materials that address problems of biomedical, environmental, and agricultural relevance.
