Academician Prof. Emerita Datuk Dr. Asma binti Ismail FASc is a distinguished Malaysian scientist and academic leader. She is the Immediate Past President of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and currently serves as Vice-Chancellor and CEO of IMU University. A pioneer, she was Malaysia’s first female Vice-Chancellor of USIM and USM, and the first female Director-General of Higher Education. Prof. Asma chairs Malaysia’s Planetary Health Action Plan and the expert group for the Malaysia Higher Education Blueprint 2026–2035. She also chairs the Education reform for the country. An accomplished technopreneur with 16 patents, including TYPHIDOT, the rapid test for typhoid, she was named among Forbes Asia’s 50 Over 50 Women (2023) for her contributions to science and higher education.
