UPEI Computer Science Camp
The Second Annual IgniteCS@UPEI is taking place weekly May 14, 2018-July 4, 2018. This program is hosted by UPEI’s School of Mathematical and Computational Science (SMCS) undergraduate students, funded by SMCS, and supported by Google!
What happens at camp?
During IgniteCS@UPEI, students attending will participate in “unplugged” activities where they will learn important computer science concepts away from the computer. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to do some real coding and develop their own Java programs, some of which are very similar to the first year computer science assignments here at UPEI! This year we will also be having Oculus day where students will have the opportunity to try the Oculus Rift and Googler day where students will have the opportunity to chat with a Google employee.
New this year
After fantastic success in 2017, the team has decided to expand the program to include a beginner camp and an intermediate camp. While these camps will be fairly similar, the divide will allow up to cater to the skill level of participants.
