Online shopping in the Philippines has rapidly grown since the pandemic. However, unlike in physical stores, buyers cannot inspect a product in their own space and must rely on pictures and videos before purchasing the item. SARI is an app that allows you to visualize the item in your space using just your smartphone and augmented reality (AR)!
Thank you for your interest in trying out SARI! Unfortunately, we're no longer accepting testers. The instructions below have been retained for archival purposes.

One of SARI’s main features is product scanning, which lets you create a 3D model of your product using only your smartphone. To get the best results, please follow these steps:
Make sure to fit the object as closely as possible within the frame, and hold steady when capturing the image.
Move to a different angle to capture each new picture. For optimal results, take at least 30 images from various angles.
You can check your image count in the lower left corner of the screen.
Once you're finished, click the purple arrow. The reconstruction process will take about 5 – 10 minutes.
In some cases, the product may fail to reconstruct due to the conditions in which the images were captured. Avoid taking pictures of the object under any of the following conditions:
An object on a plain surface or with a plain background
A blurry image
An object with transparent features or on a reflective surface
A dark-colored object on a dark-colored background
Congratulations! 🎉 Your product has been successfully transformed into a 3D model! To view it through your smartphone camera, simply open any product profile and tap the button with a cube icon.
Point your phone's camera at the surface and wait for white dots to appear. Once you see the white dots, tap on them to make the 3D object appear.
You can also tap the arrow button in the upper right corner of the screen to remove the object.
Tap the model until you see a white circular platform underneath it. Tap and hold the model while moving it to reposition it on any surface.
Tap the model until you see the platform again. Then, hold it while making a circular motion to rotate the 3D object.
Testing this application will require a pair, as some features need the coordination of two people.
Ensure that you have a working Internet connection.
When viewing the 3D object in AR, it is highly recommended to do so in a well-lit environment. The application cannot detect surfaces in dark areas.
The application reconstructs 3D objects based on the number and variety of angles from the images you take. Capture as many pictures of the object as possible from different angles.
The application may produce 3D objects with some inconsistencies or missing details. However, as a participant in this study, your task is not to assess the application’s ability to reconstruct complete, detailed models. Instead, you should focus on providing objective feedback on the user experience, regardless of the quality of the models.
You will be redirected to a Google Form to try out the application's features. The overview below is only a preview of what you can expect, but you'll receive guidance on how to navigate the application.
Below are the features you will test while using the application. You don't need to take note of them, as the Google Form will guide you in navigating the application. Please note the features that require a pair, marked with an asterisk (*).
