On designated days of the week, the MSI Library accepts visitors/non-UP researchers including UP alumni, former UP faculty and staff, students from other schools, government and private researchers.
It is encouraged that visitors to the MSI Library set up an appointment first by calling 8981-8500 local 2913 or sending an email through library@msi.upd.edu.ph. The email communication from the library staff will serve as the appointment confirmation.
It is advised to go to the Tuklas online catalog to do a preliminary search of books, print journals, theses or other library resources. The call number and location of books should be noted to determine the availability of the resources to the library.
Visiting hours are on Mondays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Below are requirements for non-UP members to access the MSI Library.
Alumni, former faculty and staff may use the library upon presentation of a valid ID and a UPAA Alumni Card or proof of former UP status. A special library card which will be issued to entitle them to free use of the library for five (5) visits per semester, after which they will pay a research fee.
Government researchers are allowed to use the library upon presentation of a valid office ID and a referral letter from their office’s Head Librarian. The letter should outline the objective and research topic of the researcher/s. They will be issued a special library card which will entitle them to free use of the library for five(5) days per semester, after which they will pay a research fee.
Private researchers and graduate students from other schools are allowed to use the library upon presentation of a valid office or school ID and a referral letter from the office’s or school’s Head Librarian, stating the objective and research topic. They will be issued a special library card upon payment of a research fee.
Undergraduate students (taking up any Bachelor’s degree) from non-UP colleges and universities may use the library, upon presentation of a school ID and a referral letter from the school’s Head Librarian. The letter should outline the objective and research topic of the researcher/s. They will be issued a special library card upon payment of a research fee.
High school students from non-UP schools may use the library, upon presentation of a school ID and referral letter from the school’s Head Librarian. Stating the purpose and the research topic is required. They will be issued a special library card upon payment of a research fee.
Note: Students should arrange an appointment in advance and be accompanied by their teacher(s) throughout their visit.
