17 to 18 November 2023
Analytic and Theoretical Tools for the Data-enabled Sciences
A Research Seminar-workshop at the Mathematics Building, University of the Philippines Los Banos
A two-day summit of talks, activities, and workshops
Day 1, Nov 17
Day 2, Nov 18
This two-day research seminar- workshop aims to provide participants with working knowledge of tools from linear algebra, functional analysis, and probability that are necessary in solving problems in the data-enabled sciences. It will also expose the participants to various applications of these tools in acoustics and electromagnetism, Bayesian inference for modelling, stochastic parametrization, and data science. This will be done in a series of lectures and hands-on exercises.
Senior undergraduate, graduate students, and early career mathematicians are welcome to apply for the seminar-workshop, as long as they have taken a linear algebra and a real analysis course. There are limited slots for the school so we encourage prospective participants to apply early. There are no registration fees, but participants are expected to arrange and pay for their accommodation (if needed).
