Performance enhancement and wellbeing of athletes

About the Research Group

Performance Enhancement and Wellbeing of Athletes focuses on research collaborations in four main areas: (1) high performance, (2) psychosocial support, (3) academic support, and (4) coach and personnel development. Our aim is to promote evidence-based practices and policies to support the holistic development of student-athletes. Under this group, we look into various research themes such as the readiness of athletes returning to training after a long lay-off, training practices of athletes during the lockdown periods, the effect of bubble set-ups on the psychosocial well-being of athletes, the interaction of psychosocial wellbeing and academic support of athletes, incidence and predictors of injuries, and predictors of academic performance. These endeavors will, in return, support efficient and evidence-based recommendations that place the wellbeing of athletes as the main priority.
