Consent of Instructor (COI)
The student can secure their DEVC 198 Consent of Instructor (COI) through DX AMIS during the registration period once the intern assignment to agencies AND the distribution of agencies to the DEVC 198 sections are finalized. The COI requests approval can be secured during the registration period up to the first week of classes. Rest assured that you will be granted a slot in the DEVC 198 section where your agency will be assigned.
Delays in the COI approval usually result from the students' late confirmation of internship posts, which in turn causes delays in the equitable distribution of agencies and students across DEVC 198 sections.
Letter of Intent (COI) and DEVC 198 Survey
Download LOI template, accomplish the template, and have it ready for submission.
The LOI will be submitted with the DEVC 198 Survey that will be deployed from March 11-14, 2025 as part of the preparations for the Midyear 2025 BSDC Internship Program.
Make sure to update the file name of the pdf file to: “<Last Name, Given Name MI>. 1243. DEVC 198 LOI.pdf”
Submit the accomplished LOI form through this link. The submitted DEVC 198 LOI will be processed by the CDC Internship Committee and forwarded to the CDC OCS for verification.
The CDC Internship Committee and OCS will check if you have completed/passed/earned a numerical rating for at least 7 generalist/specialization courses.
You will be notified by the CDC Internship Committee if you have satisfied/completed the DEVC 198 prerequisites. Your official UP email account will be carbon copied (cc’d) in the email transaction throughout the process.
For Midyear 2025, five sections of DEVC 198 will be offered. The assignment of students to their DEVC 198 sections will be done after the finalizing the intern-agency assignments.
*Make sure that you attend the internship orientation and the initial meeting for the DEVC 198 class.
Dealing with a grade of Incomplete/INC incurred in prerequisite courses
Students should have earned a passing numerical rating for the prerequisite courses (7 generalist/specialization courses) by the start of Midyear 2025.
Students who incurred a grade of INC in any of the prerequisite courses (7 generalist/specialization courses) should have completely processed their INC removal on/before June 16, 2025 (Midyear 2025 start of classes). If the student incurred a grade of INC in one (or more) specialization course(s) taken during the Second Semester, AY 2023-2024, Midyear 2024, and/or First Semester, AY 2024-2025, the student must make sure that the INC grade is removed/completed before the start of Midyear 2025 so they can qualify for the internship.
The student is to immediately coordinate with the faculty-in-charge of the course(s) were they received a grade of INC; discuss the conditions for removing/completing the INC grade; submit.conduct the necessary outputs/activities; process their Removal of 4.0/INC; and have their removal grades submitted to the OCS portal in time for the start of Midyear 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for Prospective Interns
What’s the difference between fully online/virtual and in-person/on-site internship?
The fully online/virtual internship means that the internship post will require no in-person/on-site reporting for the internship. This setup is ideal for students who seek to render their internship in agencies whose offices are located far from the student’s place of residence.
Internship postings for on-site/in-person internship will require the prospective interns to report to the agency and/or location of the agency’s field work. The internship agencies may require at least one in-person/on-site reporting session, to report to the workplace for half or most of the internship period. This will be specified in the internship posting. You may also clarify details with the agencies during the initial interviews, should you be shortlisted for the post.
I’m applying for in-person/on-site but I have incomplete document requirements/missing documents, can I just submit them later during the internship period?
No. The decision whether students will be allowed an in-person/on-site internship depends on whether the prospective intern was (1) able to submit ALL requirements (2) on/before the deadline (3) while using the official submission portals as instructed in the guidelines. Should the student fail to meet any of these three (3) conditions for submitting the requirements, the prospective intern will automatically be assigned to a fully online/virtual internship post.
I’m still undecided whether to apply for an in-person/on-site or fully online/virtual internship, which set of documents should I prepare?
If undecided whether to opt for a fully online/virtual or on-site/in-person internship, prepare the documents for the on-site/in-person internship.
I want to do my internship in an agency/office in our community –or in an agency that’s not listed in the DEVC 198 Google Site. How can I work this out?
Secure a letter of request from the agency head addressed to our dean and send it to internship@devcom.edu.ph.
