The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), through its Quality Assurance Office (QAO), is committed to upholding excellence in academic and administrative processes. To strengthen its communication and knowledge management functions, the QAO opens internship development-oriented institution. It aims to help interns enhance their work competencies and discipline, learn from experienced professionals, and explore potential career paths in
institutional and development communication. Through participation in documentation, writing, process improvement, and multimedia activities, students will gain practical experience that contributes both to their professional growth and to UPOU’s continuing quality assurance initiatives.
Number of Interns Requested
The UPOU Quality Assurance Office (QAO) is currently seeking 10 BS Development Communication student interns.
Mode of Internship: in-person/on-site
Interns are expected to report on-site at the UPOU Headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna for orientation, coordination meetings, and all project activities, including the documentation of QA events and process mapping sessions.
All tasks will be carried out in person to facilitate collaboration and hands-on learning. This includes writing, design, and report preparation, which will be conducted on-site and under the guidance of the internship supervisor.
Tasks and Responsibilities of Interns
Documentation and Knowledge Management
Assist in drafting, editing, and formatting sections of the UPOU Operations Manual
Organize and archive institutional documents for easy reference and retrieval
Communication and Writing Support
Draft and edit official correspondence, announcements, and QA-related content
Assist in preparing newsletters, reports, and web content
Translate technical QA materials into user-friendly formats (FAQs, infographics, handouts)
Process Documentation and Reporting
Document QA-related activities (meetings, workshops, assessments, accreditation visits)
Prepare narrative and visual documentation of QA events
Create simplified process flowcharts and guides for internal and external stakeholders
Quality Assurance Support
Assist in developing and reviewing feedback forms, surveys, and evaluation tools
Synthesize survey and feedback results into concise communication reports
Provide recommendations to enhance communication practices across offices
Creative and Multimedia Support
Design infographics, posters, videos, and digital materials explaining QA processes and policies, and visual documentation of QA activities
Support the creation of a QA information hub or microsite
Requirements/Qualifications for Internship Applicants
Enrolled in DEVC 198 (Internship) under the BS Development Communication program during Midyear 2026
Strong writing, editing, and research skills
Interest in institutional communication, documentation, or knowledge management
Proficiency in Google Workspace tools (Docs, Sheets, Drive)
Basic design or multimedia skills (e.g., Canva, basic video editing) are an advantage
Willingness to report on-site at UPOU Headquarters Los Baños, Laguna
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
