UPLB CEM Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-enterprise Development (ICOPED)

The Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-Enterprise Development (ICOPED) of the College of Economics and Management (CEM), University of the Philippines Los Baños is currently looking for interns and would like to open this opportunity to the students of the College of Development Communication (CDC). As a lead academic unit mandated to advance the cooperative and social enterprise field, ICOPED continues to expand its initiatives in academics, research and extension, and stakeholder engagement. In line with this, we seek interns who can support our ongoing programs, particularly in cooperative research and extension.

Number of available intern slots: 3

Mode of internship: Blended (50% online/virtual; 50% in-person/on-site) A workspace for the interns will be provided at ICOPED. While most of the tasks/activities can be done remotely, we require that at least 50% of the total no. of hours required for the internship be rendered in the office to allow for more opportunities for supervision, mentoring, collaboration, and professional interaction.

Tasks/responsibilities

1. 1. 1. Draft a training design for a Youth Cooperative Awareness Seminar

      2. Plan and execute the conduct of an awareness seminar

      3. Assist in the implementation of ICOPED extension activities

      4. Facilitate the documentation of on-site activities through photography, videography, and news articles for official dissemination

      5. Engage in at least one of the ongoing research projects of ICOPED to provide technical assistance, specifically in activities such as desk research, data collection and analysis, conduct of workshop / forum, and technical presentations

      • 1. One (1) capsule training design for an awareness seminar

        2. One (1) successfully completed awareness seminar

        3. A curated collection of photos and a brief summary report of the seminar

    • Individual outputs

      • 1. A set of 3–5 social media graphics to promote ICOPED’S extension and research activities

        2. At least two (2) news articles for publication on the ICOPED and CEM website

        3. A 2 - 3 minute storytelling video about their Student Internship Journey at ICOPED.

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Must have knowledge and interest in video editing and visual design/graphic illustration.

2. Must have basic technical writing skills

3. Must have knowledge in using multimedia apps/software such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, etc.

4. Must be a team player, willing to learn, creative, and adaptable.

Application Process and Schedule

The internship program shall be conducted remotely. Interns can work on a flexible schedule provided that they complete 200 hours or equivalent in outputs. The program shall start from July 5 to September 1, 2021.
