UPLB College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS) Value-adding Innovations in Agriculture through Journey-based Education (VIAJE)

The College of Agriculture and Food Science, UP Los Baños, has strengthened its commitment to experiential learning, and community engagement through the establishment of the CAFS Agri-Edu-Science Tourism Committee. This initiative positions the College as a living laboratory where agriculture is communicated as a dynamic and evolving field of science, accessible to diverse stakeholders through interactive and experience-based approaches.

The program is aligned with the Farm Tourism Development Act of 2016 (RA 10816), supporting national efforts to promote farm tourism as a platform for education, innovation, and sustainable development. Within the academic context, it aims to develop a model that facilitates knowledge exchange, fosters institutional partnerships, and enhances public appreciation of agriculture.

In support and alignment with UPLB’s broader PASEO (Promoting Agroforest Stewardship and Ecological Observations through Edutourism) project, CAFS has established CAFS VIAJE (Value-adding Innovations in Agriculture through Journey-based Education). It is a flagship project designed to deliver structured and immersive learning experiences. Through guided activities and curated content, the program translates agricultural concepts into engaging and accessible formats for diverse audiences, including basic education institutions, state universities and colleges, and local government units.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. 1. 1. Development of promotional materials (print and digital) to strengthen the CAFS VIAJE brand

      2. Management and content creation for official social media platforms

      3. Documentation of tourism activities through photo, video, and written formats

      4. Assistance in monitoring and evaluation of project activities

      5. Support in organizing and documenting training workshops, particularly for student tour guides

      6. Contribution of innovative ideas to enhance communication and stakeholder engagement

Minimum Qualification Requirements

1. 1. 1. Demonstrate strong written, visual, and digital communication skills

      2. Have working knowledge of graphic design, social media management, or multimedia production

      3. Be proactive, creative, and able to work collaboratively

      4. Have an interest in agriculture, education, and community engagement
