Tasks/responsibilities/outputs expected from the interns:
Content Pillar (4 Intern Slots)
The Content Pillar interns are expected to perform the following tasks:
Design/edit institutional communication materials i.e. regional/country flyers, grant video applications, briefers, etc.;
Conceptualize on and offline campaigns in line with conferences and global observances that IRRI takes part in;
Assist in curating and writing content for IRRI’s internal and external newsletters; and
Assist in developing design templates for IRC 2023, IRRI’s flagship scientific conference.
Science Communication Pillar (2 Intern Slots)
The Science Communication Pillar interns are expected to perform the following tasks:
Write science articles that speak on the technologies and innovations of the institute, in partnership with scientists
Create materials for the website, social media, intranet, newsletter, and other IRRI communication channels that can be used to promote these technologies
Help create a collaboration platform for scientists and researchers
Engagement Pillar (4 Intern Slots)
The Engagement Pillar interns are expected to perform the following tasks:
Assist in the preparation of the materials for student visits
Assist in the management and organization of student visits
Create multimedia content for social media platforms
Eligibility Requirements and Qualifications
Junior or senior-standing BS Development Communication student
Has a good understanding of the scientific research process, the global agri-food sector, and current issues surrounding agriculture, food security, farmers’ welfare and the environment
Proficient in technical writing, newswriting, and social media content production
Proficient in MS Office and G-Suite
Knowledgeable in multimedia production and editing

Application process and schedule
Internship applicants need to draft and submit the requirements to the Internship Supervisor.
The Communications and Advocacy (C&A) Unit will endorse the applications to the Human Resources and Organizational Development Department.
The shortlisted candidates will be requested to provide the following:
medical certificate
completed medical questionnaire
x-ray
COVID-19 vaccination card/s
The candidates with the complete requirements will be endorsed to C&A to commence the internship program. All interns are required to sign an attendance sheet indicating the number of hours rendered for each day.
The HROD will issue certificates of completion once they finish.
