I am Associate Professor of Classical Archaeology at the Department of History and Archaeology at the University of Ioannina. 

I completed my BA in Archaeology and History of Art at the Department of History and Archaeology at the University of Athens (1998–2002). I then continued my postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford, where I first earned an MA in Classical Archaeology (2003–2004) and I completed my PhD (2004–2008) with a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). My doctoral thesis, The Early Black-Figured Pottery of Attika in Context (ca. 630–570 BC), supervised by Professor D.C. Kurtz, was published by Brill in 2011.

From 2012 to 2017, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre de Recherces en Archéologie et Patrimoine (CReA) at the Free University of Brussels (ULB).

My research focuses on issues of early Greek societies during the Early Iron Age and the Archaic period as reflected on their material culture, namely pottery. My publications concentrate on funerary and cult practices in the Aegean during these periods, as well as on ceramic assemblages from various sites (Academy of  Athens, Thorikos in Attica, Kalaureia on Poros, Kythnos, Despotiko of Antiparos, Kephala on Skiathos).

As a field archaeologist, I  have  participated in numerous systematic excavations in Greece.  Since 2012 I am one of the basic  members of the excavation project  at Despotiko Antiparos and since 2015 of the research team at Thorikos in Lavrion of Attica. From 2021 to 2023, I co-directed the systematic excavation at Lathouriza in Vari (together with Stella Chrysoulaki and Alexandros Mazarakis Ainian).

Since 2022, together with Andreas Vlachopoulos and Kleopatra Kathariou, we direct the systematic university excavation at the site of Dourouti within the Campus of the University of Ioannina.

Since 2025, I am the principal investigator of the research project Bo.Me.Po: Bone Memories of the Polis. Biographies of Social Order and Unrest in Athens before Democracy, funded by the Hellenic Foundation of Research and Innovation and will officially kick off on the 2nd of June. The project will be undertaken by the University of Ioannina in collaboration with the Research Unit: Analytical, Environmental & Geo-Chemistry (AMGC) in the Department of Chemistry at the Free University of Brussels (VUB), the Fitch Laboratory of the British School at Athens and the Laboratory of Archaeometry of the University of Peloponnese. The aim of the project is to elucidate the social and political realities in 7th-century Athens based on the burials of the Phaleron necropolis with the use of advanced macroscopic, microscopic and analytical for the study of the skeletal remains.
