Reasoning
High biodiversity on species through ecosystem levels.
Biological diversity to display the essence of Natural History.
Uniqueness for ecotourism including education for sustainable develoment goals.
Goals
To equip people with the understanding of ecological functions and processes that shapes the natural history of the region.
Objectives
Objective 1. To become a hub of conservation based tourism in Sulawesi
Thera are 10 conservation areas in North Sulawesi namely Taman Nasional (TN) Bunaken, TN Bogani nani Wartabone, Cagar Alam (CA) Duasudara (previously CA Tangkoko & CA Duasudara), CA Gn. Lokon, CA Gn. Ambang, Taman Wisata Alam (TWA) Batuputih, TWA Batuangus, Suaka Margasatwa (SM) Manembo-nembo, SM Karakelang Utara, and SM Karakelang Selatan. In Sulawesi, there are 60 areas and in Wallacea Ecoregion, there are 320 conservation areas. Conservation areas (or conservation forests) are where the rare and unique species are fully protected.
Sulawesi (within the Wallacea bioregion) is a globally significant ecoregion in the world as it is a home of 37% of Indonesia's endemic biodiversity and Indonesia is a significant global biodiversity hotspot. So therefore, any area in Sulawesi and its extended landscape are the core for natural history education and conservation attempts.
WCL commits to develop a place where people may gain knowledge through ecoducation programs and biodiversity conservation schemes in one hub. It contains of research stations, interactive biodiversity library, biodiversity experience from mountain peaks to the deep sea.
Programs
Instituting Likupang Research Stations: Speciment curration laboratory, speciment storage facility, and 5G speciment display hall.
Developing Interactive Biodiversity Library: Interactive biodiversity database and online applications, ecoducation materials and updates, and interactive field guides.
Undertaking Biodiversity Experience (biodiversity research and monitoring programs from mountain peaks to the deep sea): bio-ecological research of species endemic to the region, biogeographical research in landscape level, and exploration of rare or new species.
Objective 2. To develop Research Center to contribute to science, habitat restoration and species reintroduction
The center is open to people form any research institute or university in Indonesia and abroad. Field of study is inclusive to any relevant filed of studies and may range from basic biology to social sciences. Programs of objective #2 is a compliment to objective #1.
Programs
Running seminars and workshops to syncronize programs and goals.
Harmonizing programs and outcomes for the benefit of educations and science.
Developing native species nursery for habitat restoration, research and education.
Objective 3. To develop nature advocacy and conservation education
The traveler's mind are ready and strongly longing to experience new things and perspectives. Tourism is, therefore, a powerful tool to answer the couriosity and to impose environmental education. Programs of objective #3 is also a compliment to objective #1.
Programs
Developing materials to educate people in all range of ages and social statuses.
Delivering conservation programs to protect and save rare and protected species
Objective 4. Carbon Offset implementation programs
WLC will be involved in decision in the development of KEK Likupang to give advise on implementing mitigation and adaptation programs to combat global warming. Integrated environmental monitoring programs will be the core of site plan and development.
Programs
Developing weather database and monitoring programs in all KEK activities.
Developing innovation on natural resource management, renewable energy and waste management
Objective 5. To initiate an Indonesia showcase that adaptively integrate nature conservation and tourism
Preserve the nature is actually provide objects to tourism industry. Programs of objective #5 is the implementation of objective #1
Programs
Developing popular substance that fashion the nature conservation to a tourist attraction
Training local people to adopt conservation strategy
Objective 6. Mengelola dan mendapatkan sumber pendanaan secara mandiri supaya dapat langsung di kembalikan ke lokasi
Sumber dana bisa berasal dari pemerintah atau donatur independen.

Pulisan Biodiversity Research
FLORA SPECIES DIVERSITY
Goals
to study flora diversity in Pulisan Landscape,
to study the geographical distribution of flora species endemic to Sulawesi and Wallacea Bioregion in Pulisan Landscape.
Methodology
Complete observation within the landscape. The approach was done by means of transects and plots to ensure that all 400 ha areas are covered. Preliminary study will be to determine landscape clusters based on vegetation cover types. Intensity of survey will be determined by likeliness to find the targeted species.
Expected Results: Species database and geographical reference of each individual.
