CHRYSANTHEMUM

Katlin Quezada, Chrysanthemum, 2020. Thread and tulle, 8in in diameter.

This embroidery piece is inspired by the rounded petal shape of chrysanthemum flowers. My initial sketch begins digitally where I can easily choose colors and match them with DMC embroidery floss. Afterwards, I print it out the design on paper and trace it onto tulle. I approach the medium as a line drawing, focusing on the overall outline and movement, letting the gradated color create depth.
