ABOUT US
The ASA is an on campus organization that bring home closer to international student from Africa. At UNLV, our goal is to serve international student by helping new student navigate the transition from home to the school environment as well as promote African culture on campus through our various insightful events. We hope that everyone who is part of the ASA would find a family they can belong to and gain useful support that they need.
MEET OUR EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS
President
Gabson Baguma
Gabson was born and raised in Uganda. He had both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Chemistry from Kampala International University, Uganda.
Currently, he is pursuing a MSE. Civil and Environmental Engineering with a focus on Water Resource Engineering and Life Cycle Assessment at UNLV

Vice President
Ismail Femi
Ismail Femi was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Civil and Engineering with a focus on Water Resources and Environmental Engineering.

Secretary
Delight Ejiaka
Delight is a Graduate Student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She serves on the ASA Executive Board as the secretary.

Treasurer
LIYA NAPOLLION
Liya was born in Ethiopia . She had her undergraduate program at the University of Reno Where studied Mechanical Engineering.
She moved to UNLV for the Ph.D. program in Mechanical Engineering. Currently she serves at the ASA as the treasurer

Event Coordinator
GARE AMBROSE-IGHO
Gare is from Nigeria, she is currently doing her Ph.D. in Geoscience after studying Hydrogeology and soil science at Masters and Undergraduate respectively.
She had her Undergraduate program at the University of Benin, Nigeria and Masters at Illinois state university. She currently serves on the ASA e-Board as the event co-ordinator.

Filmon Tekle Habtemariam
Filmon is from Eritrea, Eastern Africa. He is currently doing his undergraduate program in Biology.
