Teacher Bio

Hello! My name is Ashton Fields. This is my third year at University Academy as a first grade teacher. I love first grade because of the pure curiosity first graders have and all their wonders about the world. In my class, we do a lot of exploratory learning and hands on activities. I like to integrate technology into lessons as much as possible, so students are exposed to multiple ways of learning.

I am so excited to get to know your family and student throughout the year. The best way to reach me is through Class Dojo Messenger for quick correspondence. Otherwise, you can email me: fieldsa@universityacademy.org or call me at my extension 5987.

I am originally from Chicago, Illinois. I attended the University of Illinois at Champaign- Urbana for my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Global Studies. I am in graduate school at the University of Missouri St. Louis for a Masters in Elementary Education. I am also a Teach for America Corps member and am so happy to be in Kansas City. I have a younger brother named Cole that is in college at Northern Michigan University. I love traveling with my family; we have a lot of extended family members that live all over the U.S. and the world!
