Modern agriculture increasingly relies on plastic materials such as mulch films, irrigation pipes, greenhouse covers, seed coatings, and fertilizer packaging. Over time, these plastics break down into microplastics- tiny particles smaller than 5 mm that persist in the environment. Microplastic pollution in agricultural systems is an emerging global concern due to its long-term impact on soil health, crop productivity, and human well-being.
