Tech-driven Opportunity in Cultural Consumption Patterns of the Elderly
Tech-driven Opportunity in Cultural Consumption Patterns of the Elderly
Project TOCCPE (Tech-driven Opportunity in Cultural Consumption Patterns of the Elderly) aims to collect empirical evidence and best practices to analyze the impact of digital transition on the social behaviors of the elderly population and their involvement in cultural and social activities. With rapid population ageing, the well-being of those aged 60 and above has become a focal point for private and public policies. In an era marked by swift digital transformation, technology holds great promise in facilitating elderly access to cultural consumption. Nonetheless, older individuals also encounter challenges in adapting to the ever-evolving technological landscape.
PROJECT GOALS
Improving understanding of the impact of digital technology on the social behaviors and involvement of the elderly population in cultural and social activities: by capturing both the positive and negative impacts, this understanding will enable a more holistic view of the role of technology in their lives. It will also help identify strategies to mitigate potential negative impacts and amplify the positive ones.
Creating a valuable database for further research and policymaking: policymakers at various levels, from local to national, can use this dataset to inform evidence-based decisions related to issues such as digital inclusion, accessibility, and elderly welfare
Designing best practices and guidelines that can help stakeholders, including governments, nonprofit organizations, and senior care facilities, support the elderly in their digital transition: these guidelines will strengthen the support structures available to the elderly population during their digital transition. By offering clear and actionable recommendations, they empower caregivers, family members, and social workers to provide effective assistance to the elderly in adopting and utilizing digital technology.
